“In the past 25 years the world has been bombarded with graffiti, hip-hop, hardcore and skate scenes, graphic novels, and the culture of doing your own fanzines,” writes William Baglione, curator of our current July 2009 Brazil Issue. “A generation of young people have gravitated to these symbols and are magnetized to this day.” Read on here…

While getting our current Special Brazil issue ready over the past few months, we did a lot of traveling, emailing, and researching to make this month’s issue the best it could be. Take a look at Brazil’s creative center, São Paulo, through the lens of our cameraman who had the pleasure of visiting São Paulo while on assignment. You’ll notice works by the likes of tunnel-loving Zezão, risk-taking Pixadores, and other bright or choppy works lining the walls, streets, and buildings of São Paulo. Beautiful. Make sure to enter our contest to win your chance to visit this city in August!

Over the past ten years, the (space) Invader has developed a wide-ranging exhibition portfolio. But before establishing a career on the gallery circuit, Invader made a name for himself on the streets of major cities—a practice he continues to develop today." Read on here…

Juxtapoz contributing photographer Chris Osburn does a whole lot more than cover the UK art scene for us. Though he’s now based in London, Osburn was born in Chickamauga, Georgia. Earlier this year, he returned to his hometown to see how the Deep South was shaping up in the new era ushered in by the election of the first black President of the USA. Now Osburn will be showing off his photos taken during that journey in an exhibit titled RED STATE: Excess and Despair in the American South. More here…
