In Slovenia, a new artistic movement has started: Recessionism. Recessionists are inspired by the economic recession and are optimistically opening up space to something new. The breakthrough from the recession requires active individuals and associations. The selection of Recessionist artworks was exhibited for the first time in The City Museum of Ljubljana June 12-15. Thinkspace presents Memento Mori, the second solo exhibition at the gallery from Brooklyn based artist Stella Im Hultberg. The exhibition will feature a variety of new works including oil on canvas, mixed media on paper and wood panel, as well as a special installation in the front entry area. More here…

"This is a new print just finished by the legendary Self Help Graphics printshop in East LA," writes The Mac. "This is the nicest and biggest print I’ve done so far and it’s an honor to have had it produced by such an important and respected printshop as SHG. The printer, Joe Alpuche did a perfect job. The title is Ixtaccihuatl (basically pronounced "ee.stok.SEE.wot") which is the name of a large mountain in Mexico said to resemble a sleeping woman." More from Mac here…
